AARP invests in communities across Georgia through 7 organizations as part of nationwide grant program

AARP is working in partnership with local leaders, organizations and dedicated residents to help make that vision a reality. As part of that effort, AARP is excited to announce the largest investment of grant dollars to date through the Community Challenge grant program. More than $3.6 million in quick-action grants are being distributed to 310 organizations across all 50 states, Washington D.C, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The AARP Community Challenge funds innovative projects that inspire change in areas such as public places; housing; transportation; diversity, equity, and inclusion; digital connections; community resilience; and more.

This year, AARP is also bolstering its investment in rural communities, mobility innovation, transportation options, and health and food access. The program accepted applications across three different grant opportunities, including existing flagship grants in addition to new capacity-building microgrants for improving walkability and community gardens. New demonstration grants will focus on improving transportation systems, with funding support provided by Toyota Motor North America, and housing choice design competitions.

AARP Georgia is incredibly proud to have 7 grantees right here in our state. Our goal is to support their efforts to create great places for people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities. As local leaders seek to better their communities for the future, this becomes even more critical.

Georgia Council for the Arts Awards More Than $3.1 Million in Grant Funding to Support More than 200 Arts Organizations Throughout Georgia

ATLANTA – August 24, 2022 – Georgia Council for the Arts, a strategic arm of the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), today announced the recipients of its Bridge, Project, and Arts Education grants as part of its initial disbursement of grants for fiscal year 2023, which began on July 1. A total of 253 grants were awarded for arts initiatives throughout the state. This year’s more than $3.1 million in grant funding is an increase of more than $1 million over last year’s total.

PHL COVID-19 Fund awards $2.4 million in latest grants to area nonprofits

The PHL COVID-19 Fund awarded $2.4 million to 87 area nonprofits on Thursday in its fifth round of grants. Formed on March 19, the fund has now given more than $13 million to 383 nonprofits during the coronavirus pandemic.

The fund is a collaboration established by the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Foundation, and the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. Since its founding, PHL COVID-19 has secured more than $16 million in gifts and pledges from nearly 5,000 individuals, families, foundations, businesses, and institutions.

The Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund, a joint effort from Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and United Way of Greater Atlanta, today announces the Fund’s sixth round of grants. To date, the Fund has raised more than $25 million through collective resources. The two organizations have together identified the areas of greatest need and the most vulnerable populations to determine where to deliver funds.

The other 2020 grant winners include the Athens Downtown Development Authority, which is designing an Athens Music Walk of Fame; the Georgia Writer's Museum in Putnam County; a historic tour being developed in downtown Norcross; a brochure put together by the Development Authority of McDuffie County to accompany self-guided tours of local churches, and an agritourism project in Tifton focusing on Georgia-grown cotton.
